Angaston has long been a favourite place to visit whilst in the Barossa. Saltram Wines, Yalumba, Sons of Eden and of course, Angas Park Fruits are key attractions. Yet Gawler Park road, running to the north east of the town, takes us to little known, delightful gullies and valleys, nested into the hills. Open Mon-Sat is Gully Gardens, the place of Rick and Rosemary Steicke, fruitgrowers who sell their dried produce, including sulphur-free, direct to the public at very affordable prices. Friendly people and definitely worth a visit.
Not far down the road is multi- award winning Thorn-Clarke Wines. Open mon-sat, A fabulous cellar door complex and with free wine tastings, a rareity nowadays, especially for a high class boutique facility such as this, sixth generation Sam Clarke (CEO) and his team will treat you to the very best of the Barossa and Eden Valley wines.
Lunch at The Company Kitchen- South Australian Company Store. For many years visitors to the Barossa have been able to enjoy great value gourmet dishes at this wonderful venue just south of the town of Angaston.
