Asian youth and Barossa – first time experience

Twee and her friends had never before experienced a wine region in Australia, let alone the Barossa Valley. They had arranged accommodation at a remote B&B in the hills near Springton and were immediately impressed by the natural bushlands, kangaroos and other wildlife.  Our crystal clear evening skies, the small, quiet towns of the region – and the serenity of open space, had set the scene, but it was going to be a busy day ahead, as they wanted to see as much of the Barossa as possible.

Visits were made to Chateau Barossa, Grant Burge Wines, lunch at Maggie Beers, Eldertons, Wolf Blass, Rockford, Seppeltsfield and Te-Aro Wines. They were most impressed by the wonderful sandstone and ironstone buildings. It was truly a learning experience, their education about wines including the array of varieties of grapes grown and great flavour improvement that occurs by allowing red wines to stand opened, or aerated a little, before drinking.
